How it all began…

It all started when COVID came around. I was working a grueling waitressing job, and when everything came to a halt, I was able to step away from the hustle and bustle and really think about starting a business I had been dreaming about. I’ve always had a passion for making and creating, so I finally had the time to dive deep into learning skills like letterpress, calligraphy, and refining my design work.

As we slowly made our way out of the pandemic, I was able to hone that passion—and those skills—into what we now know as Della Terra Goods & Design.

Della Terra means “of the earth” in Italian, and so much of my work is rooted in nature—not just as imagery, but as texture, material, and feeling. The surface of handmade paper, the softness of cotton stock, the irregularity of natural fibers, the way ink sits differently depending on pressure and press—there’s a whole language in those details that constantly informs my work.

Alongside that is a deep inspiration from art in all its forms—across museums, movements, and time periods. I’m drawn to how different eras each have their own visual language, whether it’s the restraint of classical composition, the ornamentation of historical decorative arts, or the clarity of modern design. I also love how something as simple as a small mark—almost like a doodle or gestural illustration—can completely shift the feeling of a piece, bringing it back to something more immediate, playful, and human, while still feeling intentional and modern.

That balance is at the core of my design work, especially wedding suites, where each project becomes its own visual system and summary of their wedding day itself. It’s about translating atmosphere, texture, and story into something physical and cohesive. The design and print process are inseparable in that way. The typography, calligraphy, layout, paper, illustration, and press method all develop together; each decision in design informs how something will be printed, and the printing process in turn shapes the design. One doesn’t exist without the other—they evolve together.

My Italian mother has also been a constant influence; she’s an artist and taught me a wide range of creative skills throughout my life—skills I didn’t realize would become so valuable as I grew into entrepreneurship.

Thus, Della Terra was born.

Meet the Maker

Hi I’m Elle! I was born and raised in LA, and have been living in NYC since 2014. I am a fun-loving gal, thoroughly enjoying my life as a small business owner. Aside from running Della Terra, I am also an actor, which is a big part of how I connect to storytelling and expression in my everyday life.

I’ve always been creative brained and had an eye for aesthetics, growing up in a very artistic household. I’m very visually driven—I notice color, composition, texture, and the way things come together seamlessly. I thrive when I’m creating and bringing visual ideas to life, and I’m happiest when things around me have intentional Feng Shui.

I also wouldn’t be anywhere without my business pawtner (pictured), and my husband (not pictured, sorry John). When I’m not working, we’re usually at the dog park having a grand ole time.
